WONDERFUL JOURNEY | CSAFP visits 4ID, days before retirement

podvisayaCAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City– General Ricardo R Visaya, Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines visited the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division at 11am today, December 5, 2016.

Days before his retirement on Dec 7, 2016, Gen Visaya bade farewell to the troops of 4ID, which he commanded in 2013-2014 and where he was assigned as a young lieutenant back in 1983.

During his stint as the Commander of 4ID, he was able to steer the whole Division to greater heights. He was able to manage the conflict situations in regions 10&13 that led to the surrender of more than 300 members of the New People’s Army that was witnessed in four “Pagbabalik-loob programs”.

Gen Visaya recalled during his speech his wonderful journey in his Military career that started in 4ID. He said, “I would like to thank the 4ID for being part of my big success in the Military service. This is where I started my career as a young lieutenant and got a chance to be awarded as the junior officer of the year back in 1985. I was again given the opportunity to lead the division in 2013 as its 38th Commander. During that time, I could clearly recall that we have contributed to the peace and stability of the two regions and was able to encourage every diamond trooper to do their part and contribute to the attainment of just and lasting peace in this part of the country. Once again, thank you and carry on!”

Gen Visaya, a proud member of the PMA Matikas class of 1983, will be turning over his Command on December 7, 2016, before reaching the mandatory age of retirement of 56 on the 8th day of this month.
