5ID Commander attends OPAPP meeting at NOLCOM

Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela – Brigadier General Paul Talay Atal, D.P.A. AFP, Commander, 5th Infantry (STAR) Division, Philippine Army together with his two (2) Brigade Commanders, Colonel Bartolome Vicente O Bacarro, Commander of the 502nd Infantry (LIBERATOR) Brigade and Colonel Roy T Devesa, Commander of the 503rd Infantry (JUSTICE and PEACE) Brigade, attended the Consultation Meeting and Dialogue initiated by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP) held at Headquarters, Northern Luzon Command, Camp Aquino, San Miguel, Tarlac City on November 22, 2016.
Secretary Hernani Braganza of DAR and Government Panel Member presided the meeting which aimed to provide updates to the ongoing peace talks between the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CNN). Some of the topics discussed are the ceasefire issues and its challenges.
Brigadier General Atal stressed that this meeting is very important for the commanders on the ground to seek guidance and direction at the same time present their concerns to finally end the four (4) decades insurgency war with the CPP-NPA-NDF and to achieve the aspirations of the people to have a just and lasting peace in the whole area of Northern Luzon.
The meeting was attended by the different AFP and PNP Commanders in Northern Luzon and other Local Chief Executives.
