Mayor of Clay, West Virginia and the director of Clay Country Development Corporation have resigned after exchanging a racist conversation in facebook comparing the first lady Michelle Obama to an “ape in heels.”
Pamela Taylor, director of a local non-profit group in Clay Country West Virginia posted on facebook: “It will be so refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady back in the White House. I’m tired of seeing an Ape in heels.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Beverly Whaling of Clay, West Virginia commented on Taylor’s post saying: “Just made my day, Pam.”
A petition calling for both women to be dismissed in service has collected more than 85,000 signatures.
Greg Fitzwater, Clay Country Commissioner confirmed that Whaling resigned but they did not know if Taylor has terminated her facebook post. He said that Taylor is no longer working for the country since Monday.
