ILOILO CITY (DWDD) – 1,000 running enthusiasts are expected to gather in Iloilo City for the 5th year of nationwide Heroes Run on October 30, 2016.
The run aims to raise awareness about the plight of our living heroes and inspire people to help battle casualty soldiers in their journey to full recovery and to generate funds for our soldiers and their dependents.
The proceeds, through the Armed Forces of the Philippines Educational Benefit System Office (AFPEBSO) will be given for the benefits of families and scholarship grants to dependents of the fallen and injured soldiers who gallantly risk their lives in the call of duty.
The race will be having four (4) distance categories; the 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K runs with the following registration fees; P300 for 3K, P400 for 5K, P500 for 10K and P700 for 21K respectively.
Said activity dubbed 5th Heroes Run 2016 – Visayas Leg will be one of the satellite runs that will be conducted in Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila and will be simultaneously held in Baguio City and Davao City.
Maj. Gen Harold N Cabreros, Commander 3ID urged all sectors of the community to go out and fulfil their social responsibility through community participation.
The Heroes Run is an annual fund raising activity by the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc., Philippine Army Chapter Inc. (PMAAAI-PACI). It can be recalled that the 1st Heroes Run – Panay Leg was held last Nov. 23, 2014 at Plazuela de Iloilo with 450 running enthusiasts and the 2nd Heroes Run late last year with 500.
First 10 male runners and first 10 female runners for 3K, 5K and 10K will receive heroes run shirt while 21K finishers will receive finisher shirts and finisher dogtags.
Top 3 male and top 3 female runners will receive cash prize.
