CAMP GUILLERMO NAKAR, Lucena City (DWDD) – The Southern Luzon Command Gender and Development program in line with the observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, through Camp Nakar Station Hospital conducted information drive on Breast Cancer Awareness to the organic personnel, civilian employee, dependents and women’s from Quezon Provincial Police Office held at Solcom Officers Club House on October 19, 2016.
The objective of this seminar is to raise the participant’s awareness of prevention, early detection and treatment of breast cancer. Dra. Jasmin Andaman Garcia a resource speaker from St Anne General Hospital said breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, based on their study data shows that 1 out of 8 women are diagnosed to have breast cancer and one third of the women’s total population died on breast cancer.
The first degree of the family having or died in a breast cancer has 90% percent possibility or chance of having one. The breast cancer normally happens to an aging woman, when it tends to diminish in size as the glandular tissue atrophies is replaced by fats. So the breast often gets flabby and hangs lower on the chest when women breast have loses its firmness and fullness. It is very important for a woman to know what kind of changes is normal so she can detect an abnormal change early on.
According to the research the chances to lower the risk of breast cancer is to limit alcohol intake, do not smoke, regular exercise, breast feed and avoid exposure to a radiation environment.
