HAPPENING NOW | Press Conference on Violent Dispersal at US Embassy

CAMP CRAME, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Philippine National Police has released the names of officers and personnel relieved from their post pending investigation by the National Capital Region Police Office on the violent dispersal of militants during their demonstration at the US Embassy yesterday.


According to SSupt Dionardo Carlos, PNP-Public Information Officer, releived were S SUPT Marcelino DL Pedrozo, MPD-Deputy District Director for Operations and Over-all Supervisor; PSUPT Albert T Barot, Station Commander Police Station-5/Ground Commander; P Chief Insp Dionelle E Brannon, Pedro Gil Police Community Precint Commander;  P Chief Insp Elmer P Oseo, Deputy, PS5; P Chif Insp Joebie M Astucia, Chief Operations PS5; P Chief Insp Roberto N Marinda, Company Commander, CRB (Augmentation); P Chief Insp Roberto C Mangune, Company Commander, US Embassy Detail; P Sr Insp Edgardo O Orongan, Chief Operations District Public Safety Battalion.

Also included in the list and is confined to barracks is PO3 Franklin Kho, the driver of the Police Van that ran over some protesters.

The PNP has also assured the public that they are piecing together all facts and circumstances surrounding the violent confrontation. It is unfortunate that some persons were reported hurt in the confrontation that allegedly began when the much bigger group of militant activists broke into the smaller defensive formation of the MPD Civil Disturbance Management contingent that stood its ground to prevent an escalation of violence. Some arrests were made by the MPD, and all injured parties, from the ranks of both the militant activists and police were given proper medical attention.

The NCRPO has been instructed to conduct an investigation of the incident purposely to determine if the Police Operational Procedures were properly observed by the MPD. ALS / AES / MCAG
